Reflecting on RoboClip’s Story: From R&D to Recognition

Sep 16, 2025

We had the pleasure of meeting Rehana in person at Automate 2025 in Detroit this past May, where RoboClip made its official debut. Rehana is no stranger to Innovative Automation Inc. or our ecosystem of solutions—she has covered RoboTape in the past, as well as milestones across the Innovative Group of Companies. To see her once again share our story—this time about RoboClip—was both exciting and validating for our team.

Remembering the Launch at Automate 2025

When we launched RoboClip at Automate 2025, our esteemed R&D team led live demonstrations on the show floor. This was the culmination of more than two years of design, prototyping, and refining.
That moment set the stage for what Rehana would later capture in her article: RoboClip as a breakthrough in standardized clip insertion technology.

Instead of custom-built clipping cells that come with high costs, long lead times, and recurring downtime, RoboClip offers an off-the-shelf solution designed for speed, flexibility, and reliability.

What Stood Out in Rehana’s Coverage

Rehana highlighted something central to RoboClip’s story—our mission to clear away the frustrations of traditional feeder systems. For decades, manufacturers struggled with clip jams, manual resets, and downtime that interrupted production.

Her piece called attention to:
• ⚡ Two-second cycle times for clip-to-clip placement
• 🔄 Rapid refill (25 clips loaded in one second without stopping production)
• 🛠️ Anti-jam technology that automatically clears obstructions
• 📦 Compact design ideal for integration into tight plant layouts

These aren’t just technical wins—they’re proof of our philosophy: to design automation that works for people, not against them.

A Broader Pattern: Standardized Automation

For us, RoboClip isn’t just another machine. It represents a shift in how we approach automation. Over the last 30 years, we built more than 40 custom clipping cells. Each time, we were “reinventing the wheel.” With RoboClip, we’ve standardized the process, making it accessible, reliable, and scalable.

This echoes the same approach we took with RoboTape—our award-winning robotic taping solution that has set new benchmarks in adhesive application. Together, RoboClip and RoboTape illustrate how Innovative Automation is building a family of standardized automation products designed to solve real-world manufacturing challenges.

Looking Ahead

We’re grateful for the chance to connect with Rehana in Detroit and for her thoughtful coverage that helps bring RoboClip’s story to a wider audience. It’s always energizing to see our work reflected through the lens of someone who understands the impact automation has on industry.

In his own words, our R&D Manager Zac Cutt shares how his journey from mechanical engineer to innovator shaped the development of RoboClip and other standardized automation products.

Watch this bonus clip to hear Zac’s perspective on how innovation comes to life at Innovative Automation and the thinking behind our high-speed, jam-free clip insertion system.
